Product Page Explorations for the Xbox Store
During my time at Xbox I worked on enhancing the Xbox store experience and one such area of focus was redesigning the product page layout. In this post you will see a series of motion vignettes exploring different methods interactions for surfacing for detailed information on product pages within the Xbox store. The motion vignette above explorers using live gaming footage (streaming from Twitch) as the backdrop for the games products page. A user can quickly access the live broadcast or scroll down to access additional information about the gaming title.
In the motion study above I explore at how TV shows and movies could be displayed in the product page. The idea is to let the content sell itself by letting the shows trailer play as the backdrop to the product page. Instead of having a scrolling behavior for bringing product information on screen this study automatically flooding the content area one a user brings focus to the main content area.
Due to technical limitations associated with rendering video content within the product pages we ended up using hero artwork provided by the content provider as the backdrop for the details page.
